Terrain and Difficulty
"The routes were breathtaking.  Numerous options for lengthening/shortening and adding hill challenges were appreciated."- Katrina Cometa

The Terrain:

We will be riding on, over, and in the foothills of Skyline Drive.  For our less experience riders, we recommend our tours on the Eastern side of the Blue Ridge (rides encompassing Flint Hill, Sperryville, and Barboursville are best April 30th, Sept 13th, Oct 8th and Oct 25th) are the best rides for our less experienced riders.  Not every rider needs to ride every hill (or mountain).  With the assistance of GPS, you will have the ability to choose an easier ride and not feel left behind.  For every day of riding, we will help you find the right ride for you that day.  Rolling hills is the best we can do at providing a flat ride.

Set Your Own Pace:

We provide each rider their own Garmin GPS, turn by turn, Cyclometer.  This allows you to set your own pace, select a route that fits your ability, without concern of whether you are on the right course.  With up to twenty-four riders, it is likely you can find a rider with similar ability should it be your desire to ride with others.  It is your choice.   Please do not misinterpret the Garmin as an alternative to support staff.  We will be there for you, but the Garmin is a fun toy, removes questions at intersections, and helps you push yourself.  In other words, it is both your security blanket and your trainer.

Each night we will provide a large video display of the next day's ride, showing optional distances, and hill profiles.  This will be information straight off your Garmin Cyclometer you will have on the ride the next day so you will be somewhat familiar with what to expect.

For an additional fee, we will provide both cadence and heart rate monitors for you to measure your performance.  If you want to push yourself, these are two of the most important pieces of information you could have access to.

We will have support vans that will be close by to provide any support needed.  We encourage all riders to keep a cell phone on them at all times so you can contact us quickly in any emergency.  If you do not own a cell phone, we encourage you to borrow a phone from family or friends for this trip.
