Rural Road Safety
:

If you've never ridden on rural roads, you are in for a treat! There are some specific safety aspects which we will review before departing for the first days ride.

Join us for for a long weekend in the beautiful southern tip of the Shenandoah County. Starting and ending in Lexington, Virginia you'll enjoy the best of the sights and shows this region has to offer!

Day 1: Arrival day in  Lexington, Virginia. Visit the historical sites and enjoy dinner on your own before gathering for a 7:30pm dessert reception/orientation

Day 2: 45 miles - Ride along the Allegheny foothills following creeks and streams as you cross the divide between the James & Potomac rivers. You'll enjoy lunch at Rockbridge Vineyards on the way and have dinner on your own in historic

Staunton, VA. The day will be topped off by a performance at the Blackfriar’s Theater by the world famous American Shakespeare Company.

Day 3: 44 miles or 75 miles
- Return to Lexington one of two ways: either at the foot of the Blue Ridge mountains, or along the Blue Ridge Parkway. Both routes

follow pleasant country roads with beautiful scenery. Have a relaxing dinner & evening on your own in historic Lexington.

Day 4:
50 miles or 32 miles (with transport)
A trip to Rockbridge County is incomplete without a ride through Goshen Pass – one of the most beautiful areas of Virginia. Dinner on your own in downtown Lexington,
followed by a concert at Lime Kiln Theater.

 Day 5:
Depart after a nice breakfast and
a rejuvenating morning.

The routes are on paved rural roads with minimal traffic.  These routes are rated difficult based on a few climbs, BUT walking your bike uphill is certainly allowed - or we can arrange to transport you to the top, in which case the routes are rated easy (and fun!).
