Tour Includes:
Day One: Wolftrap Farm - 30 Miles
We suggest arriving early Friday morning and taking a tour of James Madison's Montpelier. Arrive at Wolftrap Farm by noon, an equestrian estate on the Virginia Historic Regestry. After a BBQ lunch, and a brief tour of the property catch an afternoon ride in rural Orange County. This will be a brief ride of about 30 miles allowing a relaxed first day ride to get to know the other riders and learn the functionality of your Garmin.
Day Two: Wolftrap Farm - 50-70 miles
Today we will ride through the most dramatic horse estates of Orange County continuing into the rural Madison County. Madison County has successfully kept their community rural. You will ride by a Menonite country store, orchards, great wineries, and challenging short mountain climbs. We will be serving dinner at Wolftrap Farm tonight, but we will also be close to Barboursville Winery, which many consider Virginia's premiere winery with a restaurant that is more impressive than the winery. If you are celebrating a special occassion, we recommend this experience.
Day 3: Crimora Mine Retreat, Crimora Day 4: Crimora Mine Retreat, Crimora Day 5: Crimora Mine Retreat, Crimora Today we have a wonderful ride in the rural roads around Waynesboro. For those wanting a challenge, we have the 3000+ foot climb up to and on the Blue Ridge Parkway. Tonight we will go into Staunton to walk this quaint town and enjoy dinner at Mill Street Grill.
Today we transition to Crimora Mine Retreat. We will start the day early moving vehicles to the retreat. We will then proceed up to Skyline Drive, considered by many to be the absolutely best riding the Eastern United States has to offer. We will ride the southern 40 miles of Skyline Drive, then you will have the option of riding back to the lodge in the valley or jumping into the tour van for the ride back.
Enjoy the Shenandoah Valley today. We will ride to Natural Chimney's, riding within the beautiful farmlands, crossing old bridges, passing through small towns, and enjoying challenging rolling hills. We have wonderful country stores, ice cream shops, antique store, and Shenandoah Caverns all mapped out on this ride. This is open farmlands with great scenery. You will be able to choose from 60 - 100 miles, all on the same route today.
Day 6: Crimora Mine Retreat, Crimora
It is time to pack up and head home. Before you head home we will have a ride in the valley with lunch back at the retreat before driving home.
